Northern Essex Community College
offers two reading improvement classes: Basic
Reading and College Reading. They
provide instruction in vocabulary, reading comprehension and study
strategies.
Placement into the courses is determined by the college's assessment
process. Basic Reading and College
Reading are required for matriculating students whose reading score
falls within certain ranges.
Individualized assistance and instruction is provided to students by
the staff of the Reading
Center.
Speed Reading instruction is also available on an individual basis.

NECC faculty, and anyone else interested in learning more about reading
instruction at NECC.
